Copper Earrings

Others feature copper wire and possibly offer contrast with the addition of brass. Heat treated or enameling offer other possibilities. Most styles of these earrings feature raw copper wire, a richly colored wire that goes well with so many fashion colors and so many fashion styles. We love the fiery look of copper, and wear many of these styles ourselves. Most are fitted with coated copper ear wires, and that coating allows most people with metal sensitivities to wear these ear wires. However, we will replace these ear wires with sterling silver ear wires (no extra charge) if you are concerned that your ears may be too sensitive for the coated copper.

How to clean these earrings: Most of these can be safely cleaned in an ultrasonic cleaner. We will indicate any specific piece that cannot be cleaned by the ultrasonic method. Also, just plain mild soapy water can also be used. If you have a jewelry tumbler, these can all be safely cleaned by that method as well. You may also use a jewelry cleaning cloth or jewelry cleaning pad, which are both infused with a mild jewelry polish safe for pretty much any piece of jewelry.

Raw copper will tarnish over time. The tarnish often enriches the look of the copper and is mostly desirable, especially when it is contained in the recesses and crevices of an intricate design. A jewelry cleaning pad, which can be purchased from a number of sources, can be used to wipe the tarnish off the upper, exposed areas of the piece, leaving the darker tarnish in the deeper parts of the design. Many of our earrings, as well as our copper and wire wrapped pendants are deliberately oxidized in order to enhance the design of the jewelry.
